Large Lounge Transformation: Strip, Replaster and Full Redecoration

Steam stripping old wallpaper

All existing wallpaper was carefully steam stripped from the walls. This method ensures clean removal without damaging the substrate beneath, and is essential preparation before any new plasterwork or paint can be applied

Ceiling & wall replastering

With the walls bare, a specialist plasterer was brought in to fully replaster both the ceiling and walls. A smooth, fresh plaster surface is the foundation of any quality decorating job — no amount of paint can hide a poor surface underneath.

3 coats of white emulsion to the ceiling

Once the plaster had cured, Nathan applied three coats of white emulsion to the ceiling. Multiple coats ensure an even, bright finish with no thin or patchy areas — particularly important on fresh plaster, which is thirsty and absorbs heavily on the first coat.

4 coats of emulsion to the walls in two colours

The walls were finished in two complementary colours — a bold red and a light grey — each receiving four full coats of emulsion. Four coats means consistent depth of colour, clean sharp lines at colour transitions, and a durable finish that will last for years

Full woodwork refinish

All woodwork was sanded back using an electric dustless sander — keeping the room clean and minimising disruption. Any imperfections were then filled and allowed to cure before an undercoat was applied, followed by a finishing coat of white satin paint for a hard-wearing, professional result.
